The slightly older word meaning to commit burglary is burglarize. This version is standard in American English. Strict adherents of British English consider burglarize an ugly choice (probably for the arrogant reason that it is American in origin) and stubbornly insist on using the humorous (or erroneous or colorless, depending on the usage writer) back-formation burgle rather than accept the American English standard.
Note that these verbs are more specific than the simpler rob or steal and should not be used unless the act involves the illegal entry of a building.
