Creaole, Patois, or Pidgin

Pidgin refers to a simplified speech, native to none, used to communicate between people from different linguistic backgrounds. Patois refers to speech or language considered nonstandard, though the term lacks a consistent linguistic definition. Creole, when used linguistically, refers to a language formed from the contact of two languages—when a pidgin language persists until it has native speakers. Creole languages should not be confused with creole people, a distinct ethnic term.
