Dive

Dive (to jump into): dive > dived/dove > dived

While dived has always been the standard past-tense form in all English, dove exploded in popularity in American English usage and, since the early 1980s, has comfortably outperformed dived to the point that phrases like he dove are almost three times as common as he dived in written American English. Prefer the past-tense dived unless writing in American English, where dove is now considered equal.
