Older and oldest are the general terms when meaning of greater or greatest age. Elder and eldest are less-common variants used for one or more within a group of related or associated people (the village elders, a child imitates its elders, my eldest son) or for one of two people (the elder sister, the elder senator). However, prefer older and oldest when they fit the context equally well.
