Until the mid-1900s, Moslem was the preferred term in all written English for a follower of Islam. Since then, the current standard spelling, Muslim, has been preferred worldwide. The former spelling now maintains an affected historical air but is otherwise uncommon and nonstandard.
If referring to the cotton fabric of plain weave, the correct spelling is muslin.
